While we help our middle school children develop into accomplished students, we also expect them to value honor and integrity and to be kind, caring and compassionate human beings who make a difference.
Character Development Methods
At Harker there is an ecosystem of respect and kindness, and the students care about one another and support each other. In the middle school character development is woven into the curriculum and into advisory discussions. Students are expected to follow the Harker Honor Code of honesty and personal integrity and to respect the diversity of beliefs, viewpoints and interests of others.
Outreach supports academic learning, compassion and deeper connections to the community and the world.
Service and helping others – locally and globally – is in the DNA of the Harker community. More than 300 nonprofit programs are supported by Harker students through fundraisers, advocacy and awareness campaigns and volunteerism. From annually collecting hundreds of pounds of food for local food banks, to hosting an annual Cancer Walk that has raised more than $46,000 to date for Camp Okizu, Harker middle school students are compassionate, caring citizens of their communities and the world. Our students are passionate about making a difference.
